General Dentistry - Bridges

Dental bridges are used to replace missing teeth.

Just like a bridge that spans gaps in the road, dental bridges cross gaps in your smile and are used to replace missing teeth. A bridge is like a crown, but it is held in place by being attached to the neighboring teeth forming a bridge over the space.

Advantages:

A dental bridge can be cost effective especially if the adjacent teeth need work on them as well.

Disadvantages:

A bridge can take a one-tooth problem and make into a three or more tooth problem if there are issues with the bridge down the road.
Alternatives to a bridge include dental implants and a removable partial dentures.
